In June, The Museum celebrated the life and times of Betsy Plank, the"First Lady of Public Relations." Betsy Plank achieved many "firsts" for women in PR, including first woman president of PRSA, the first to head a division of Illinois Bell and the first to win the Page Lifetime Achievement Award. Plank was an advocate for PR education and instrumental in establishing PRSSA. In 2005, the Univ. of Alabama created the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, which she chaired until her death in 2010. The event was produced by The Museum of Public Relations.
